Hawthorn compote

Hawthorn strengthens and calms the heart function. It contains a lot of valuable vitamins, especially for the coronary system. I recommend a hawthorn compote to all busy and stressed people, athletes and children after trainings.

Ingredients:

  • approximately 1 kg of hawthorn
  • 10 big dry, pitted dates
  • 5 dry figs
  • 1 cup raisins
  • juice of 4 lemons

Wash hawthorn and separate stems from fruit.

Soak dates, raisins and figs in water approximately 5 minutes.

Cook all together (except lemon juice) in approximately 2 l of water on low for approximately 4-5 hours.

After cooling, drain the fruit, dates and figs on the strainer. Then squeeze them to making a thick compote. Add lemon juice and a bit of water if the compote has too intense flavour.
